Natural health retreats in the heart of the Andes
A place in Bolivia to regenerate your health by living in harmony with Nature
Nestled at an altitude of 1,650 meters in the Bolivian Andes, the ¡Viva la Vida! Center, founded by Claire Loiseleur, is a place where you can come to regenerate your health by living in harmony with Nature. Living food, partly grown on site, days paced in symbiosis with the surrounding Nature, physical exercise suited to you: everything here comes together to offer a genuine space to reconnect with yourself. You’ll find here access to the nine articles that present the Center: its philosophy, how it works, and the practical details of a stay — to discover, understand, decide, and finally, if you wish, calmly prepare for your arrival.
Introduction to the ¡Viva la Vida! Center
Stays in the Andes to experience a lifestyle in harmony with Nature
Nestled in the mountains on the edge of Amboró National Park, the ¡Viva la Vida! Center opens the doors to a place where everything invites you to rediscover the path to full vitality: sun, clean air, living water, nourishing soil cultivated through permaculture. Five stay formulas are offered, so you can choose the length of your stay and the depth of the experience you’re truly seeking. This page lays the groundwork — who a stay is for, how it unfolds, what vision of health animates the place — and gives you access to the Center’s full presentation guide, to view online or download.
A sanctuary of Nature nestled in the Bolivian Andes
A magnificent mountain setting, conducive to regeneration
Nine hectares of Andean forest, a river below, a rare silence, sheltered from the noise and electromagnetic pollution of the modern world: this is the natural setting of the ¡Viva la Vida! Center. The altitude gently stimulates red blood cell production, the near-daily sunshine lets you build up your vitamin D stores, and the forest acts as a natural air conditioner, offering mild nights even in winter. This environment, far from the hustle and bustle of the city, creates ideal conditions for the nervous system to relax and for the body to rediscover, on its own, the path to balance.
A healthy lifestyle in a pleasant garden of Eden
Toward a life close to Nature (Pangaia), governed by Love, and flowing with Abundance (Abundancia)
The ¡Viva la Vida! Center, founded by Claire Loiseleur, rests on three fundamental values that have governed her life for more than twenty years and now animate the spirit of the place. A life close to Nature (Pangaia) nourishes and balances the body. A life governed by Love acts as a true emotional medicine. Finally, a life that is a source of Abundance (Abundancia) allows each person to align their actions with what moves them most deeply. Together, these three pillars form what Claire calls the edenic lifestyle — a philosophy that translates concretely, day after day, into how the Center works.
Outdoor health stays in rhythm with Life
Harmonious days to strengthen your body
What does a day at the Center actually look like? This page details the suggested daily schedule, meant to bring balance to your body without ever becoming a constraint. Physical exercise, permaculture, shared meals, household chores, quiet time, and mountain walks punctuate daily life, with everyone remaining free to adjust according to their own feelings and abilities. This article also describes the living conditions and material setting of the place, off the grid and powered by rainwater, river water, and solar energy. This overview helps you understand that the Center invites a return to the essentials.
Food designed to nourish and detoxify
The joy of picking your own food and deeply regenerating your body
Picking a ripe fruit straight from the branch, putting together your salad with vegetables freshly harvested from the garden: this is the daily fare at the Center, partly nourished by the Fertile Gardens of Pachamama. Two meals a day, in late morning and in the afternoon, give your body long hours of digestive rest to work efficiently in the morning and sleep deeply at night. The first meal is raw and rich in fruit, the second more substantial, built around vegetables and root vegetables. This fresh, local food nourishes your body just as much as it detoxifies, always offered as a choice, never imposed.
A charter of simple principles for a peaceful stay
A shared living space, built on trust and respect for everyone
Living alongside others in an isolated place, at a slow pace and attuned to the body, calls for a minimum of shared structure. This structure rests on a single fundamental rule, the one that guided the upbringing of Claire’s eleven children: DO NO HARM. Do no harm to yourself, to the other residents, or to the place that offers this setting for regeneration. This life charter spells out what’s expected — peace and quiet, participation in shared tasks, honest communication — and what isn’t compatible with the place, particularly substances that are toxic to health and behaviors that could hinder the collective harmony being sought.
